The main task of SAC is to improve professional language skills among the staff and trainees of the Police Training Centre. It is connected with the increasing demand for fluent foreign language performance by the staff of the School, resulting from growing international co-operation.
General Assumptions
Self-Access Centre (SAC) is the place where the user can find all kinds of teaching materials, for self - acquisition and development of language skills as well as improvement of professional qualifications in English, German and Russian. SAC resources are not only available to those who take part in organised forms of language training but also to those who due to a great number of police duties are not able to attend them. SAC offers them the opportunity to acquire language competence at individual pace and intensity. Teaching materials in SAC are provided with keys that enable the users to check and correct individually solved exercises.
Tasks
The main task of SAC is to improve professional language skills among the staff and trainees of the Police Training Centre. It is connected with the increasing demand for fluent foreign language performance by the staff of the School, resulting from growing international co-operation (participation in foreign conferences and training courses, necessity to use professional, foreign-language literature at work, possibility of publishing in foreign press).
Taking into consideration the needs of trainees of the PTC and also having in mind popularisation of foreign languages among Polish Police officers, the staff of SAC plans to organise for them optional foreign language courses, integrated with self-education.
SAC assistants, who act also as language advisers, monitor all foreign language activities performed by the users of SAC. They help the users to identify their language needs, work out their study plans, choose the proper teaching materials and evaluate their language development.

Self-Access Centre has been established as a part of Schengen Training Centre at the PTC and is located in the didactic building, room no 31.

- reading room provided with handbooks, dictionaries, foreign press, grammar guides and specialist didactic materials prepared by SAC assistants;
- computers with the access to the Internet, equipped with multimedia language programmes (to be installed in the nearest future);
- SAC assistant desk equipped with a computer and a printer (to be installed in the nearest future);
- desks equipped with cassette recorders to practise listening skills;
- a desk equipped with a TV set with the access to the satellite TV (to be installed in the nearest future) and a video recorder.
